Innovation
The term innovation means renewal, novelty and restructuring. Innovation concept can be more clearly described as addressing to elimination of issues and problems, and finding solutions to the problems that disturb people. Innovation concept is often confused with invention concept. However, innovation is not an invention. It is rather taking an already existing product or a service, and adding new, different features that will bring a solution to problems. The most fundamental criteria for innovation is adding a new, novel feature to a product or service to solve a problem.
Why is innovation important?
As we mentioned above, innovation is used to find solutions for various encountered problems. New features and qualities are included into products or services through innovation in order for people to obtain much higher benefits from the product and its features. The more innovation is made and more support is provided for innovations in a country, the higher development is achieved in that country. Additionally, country’s competitive strength will increase. Thus, such country will make a more rapid development compared to the other countries.
We can give examples for better understanding of innovation concept. For example, a hospital delivering tests results of the patients over the internet is an example of innovation. Patients will not be required to make another visit to hospital, and they save time. Additionally, a non-wrinkling fabric is also an example of innovation. Fabrics which do not require ironing will save time, effort and power.
